Gone But Not Forgotten
My brother-in-laws funeral/cremation took place on Wednesday, considering the sort of event funerals are it went reasonably well. It came as a surprise to me on the day when I was asked by his wife to be a pall-bearer, a duty I had never been asked to perform before. Obviously I felt honoured to be asked and was duty bound to accept. It was only after the event that I looked back and thought how odd the procession must have looked.
You see my other brother-in-law and myself stand around 5' 6" tall, the other pall bearers were all over 6 feet tall. With me and my other brother-in-law at the front, I can imagine that it looked as if were preparing for a burial at sea given the angle that the coffin was laying at. To be honest I'm surprised no one commented on it at the wake after the service, but I guess that's something that is usually best left unsaid, just in case it causes upset.
The service was fine and Mrs C learned dome things about her brother, that she never ever knew, from 20 of his ex-work colleagues who turned up to honour his memory. These were guys he had trained with as an apprentice over 40 years ago.
The thing that struck me most, about how sad the whole day was, was seeing how shiny and new my sister-in-laws wedding ring was. As I think I said before, they were only married in September last year, though they had been together for a lot longer than that. The whole thing just doesn't seem right somehow.
Now we have to pick up the pieces and get on with the rest of our lives, that will be easier for some of us, more than it will for others. Though sad, Mrs C is getting on fine, it is our sister-in-law who is going to feel it the hardest now. Hopefully we can all be there when she needs support.

What A Week That Was
First off; a big thank you to everyone for your messages of condolence, they are appreciated. Following the post-mortem it has turned out that Mrs C's brother did die of cancer and not the heart attack that was originally suspected. Apparently neither he nor his wife knew when the moment would strike, as neither wanted the doctors to tell them how long he had left. So, his death came as a big shock to our sister-in-law, who thought that they had a lot longer left together. It's really sad to see how cut up she is about the whole thing.
Mrs C is right on one thing; you will never know just how empty you can feel until someone really close you you dies, I have not had that happen too me yet and I hope that remains the case for many years to come. The funeral is next Wednesday.
Secondly; I like every decent human being was appalled by the events that took place in London yesterday. The people who perpetrated this crime are sick deluded/brain washed idiots if they believe this will actually achieve any of their aims. They claim to act on behalf of Islam, but everyone knows that this is patently untrue as true Islamic teachings preach the way of peace. Crimes like this only ensure that the victims resolve becomes more steadfast in their stand against terrorism.
They claimed that Britain was burning in fear in all quarters; I've got news for the fools who believe that; Britain fears no one and will not be cowed by cowards who hide behind brain washed suicide bombers. Your day will come and you will certainly not meet the one you planned to meet at the end of your days.
My sincere condolences go out, to all the victims of this criminal act and also and to their relatives.
To the all evil scum who perpetrated this evil act; May you and all that follow your evil code, die drowning in a vat of liquid pork fat.

It Never Rains But It Pours
About a month ago I reported that Mrs C's brother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, well we woke up to the news this morning that he had died overnight of a suspected heart attack. He never told us how badly the cancer had spread but we suspected he didn't have long left anyway, but this morning's news still came as shock. Obviously his wife is devastated, though she probably knew more than we did, I don't think she even expected him to go as quick as he did.
When we look at it, we should be grateful, in a way, that he was spared a lot of suffering. But it doesn't quite work like that does it? Mrs C's brother died aged 63, he only married his wife in September last year.
On top of that news, we heard only last night that an acquaintance, we know from attending various friends parties, was rushed into hospital last Friday morning with severe headaches, she was dead by Friday night, the headaches were caused by a brain haemorrhage. The emergency surgery carried out failed to save her, she was only 51.
I was going to have a pop at the Billy Liar Witch Project, otherwise known as old 'brown tongue' Blair and his cronies in Government along with their so calledspecial relationship with Basil Brush. I was also going to have a pop at some of the expensive gifts, accepted by certain Live8 celeb's, for doing their bits at the recent concerts.
But somehow there doesn't seem to be any point at the moment. So maybe I'll leave it for another time, or maybe it will be too late by then.

Luther Vandross Dies Aged 54.
It has been reported on today's news on the BBC that American soul singer Luther Vandross has died aged 54. The R&B artist never fully recovered good health since his major stroke two years ago. Even though he continued to record after the stroke he never made another public appearance.
Mrs C will be devastated, he was one of her favourite singers. Still at least she got to see him live before his tragic illness.
For more details on the BBC news site click here or click here for a very brief biography of his life and musical associations.

Top 12 Letter To Viz
I received an email this morning listing the top 15 Letters sent to the 'adult' comic Viz, I thought I'd share 12 of them with you, I removed 3 that I considered a bit over the top for publication on here:
1. Could the Home Secretary explain to me how biometric checks on iris patterns and fingerprints are going to help keep tabs on Muslim cleric Abu Hamsa?
Les Barnsley, Barnsley
2. "One pound a week will supply water for an entire village in Tanzania" says Oxfam. So how come United Utilities charge me twenty pounds a month for my three bedroom semi? The fleecing b@st@rds!!!
Tracey Cusick, Cumbria
3. How come rap artist Dr. Dre can use the 'N' word on his multi-million selling albums and win a MOBO award, yet when I used it at my son's football match I was asked to leave the park? Once again, it's one law for the rich and another for the poor.
Reg Ashcroft, Bradford
4. So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Try telling that to my mate Andy. He's been deaf for 20 years.
Tim
5. According to Nietzsche, "That which does not kill me makes me stronger". I'm sure my grandad would not agree. He suffered a series of massive strokes in the early '90s which have left him an incontinent vegetable for the past 12 years.
A Thorne, Sandbach
6. The recent suicide of Harold Shipman has thrown up some interesting questions. For a start, does Shipman killing himself take his official tally up to 216, or does it count as an own goal? Where does this final score place our national champ in the world league table
Magnus, Sheffield
7. The government says that there are nearly 50,000 people with HIV in Britain, a third of who do not even know that they have it. Is it just me, or is it a bit harsh that the government know and haven't told the poor sods?
John Campbell, e-mail
8. With reference to that series "Manhunt" where ex-Special Forces soldiers try to hunt down Andy McNab. Why don't the producers include a couple of Iraqis in the hunting team? They found the tw@t quickly enough the last time he played hide and seek with them.
Shuggie, Email
9. It's all very well Meg Ryan getting her kit off for her new film, but why wasn't she doing it twenty years ago before her puppies hit the pan?
Alan Pick, Kingston-upon-Toast
10. I would like to thank Darren of Chelsea for not coming to Australia with Jenny. She is great in bed. Thanks again.
Baz, Bondi
11. Hats off to the witty burglars who stole my entire CD collection with the exception of "There is Nothing Left to Lose" by the Foo Fighters. I hope that when sentencing, the judge takes into account their splendid sense of humour.
Chris Scaife, Jesmond
12. Hats off to the American police. They arrive at Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch to arrest him a mere six months after he admits climbing into bed with young boys on worldwide TV. Perhaps they should get some faster cars.
Anon.
